The Dubrovnik Pass gets you access to the City Walls, for incredible views over Old Town

Is the Dubrovnik Pass Worth It for Outdoor-Focused Travelers?

Why the Dubrovnik Pass Was the Best Deal of Our Croatia Trip

If you’re visiting Dubrovnik and wondering whether the Dubrovnik Pass is worth it, we absolutely believe it is – especially if you plan to explore beyond the Old Town. We used the 7-day Dubrovnik Pass during a weeklong stay, and it paid off in both money saved and the freedom it gave us to explore.

This post isn’t a list of everything you could do with the Dubrovnik Pass. Instead, it’s an honest look at how we used it, how it fit our travel style, and how it helped us make the most of Dubrovnik’s stunning coastline and day trips.

What Is the Dubrovnik Pass?

The Dubrovnik Pass is a sightseeing and transportation card that bundles entrance to key attractions and includes unlimited use of Dubrovnik’s city buses (operated by Libertas). It’s available in 1-day, 3-day, or 7-day formats, and the longer the pass, the better the value.

All versions of the pass include:

  • Entrance to the Dubrovnik City Walls
  • Entry to several museums and galleries
  • Unlimited rides on local buses
  • Discounts at select restaurants and shops

We opted for the 7-day pass and used it as our transportation pass throughout the week.

We’ve purchased city passes in many places we’ve traveled to, and we found the Dubrovnik Pass to be a great value – even without trying. Sometimes, a pass can make you feel like you have to run around checking off attractions just to get your money’s worth (we’ve been there!). But this wasn’t the case at all with the Dubrovnik Pass.

Dubrovnik Pass Cost (2025)

As of 2025, the Dubrovnik Pass is available in three durations:

  • 1-day pass: €40
  • 3-day pass: €50
  • 7-day pass: €60

Each version includes the same core benefits: entrance to the Dubrovnik City Walls, access to museums and galleries, unlimited use of local buses, and various discounts.

If you’re planning to walk the walls and use public transportation even a few times, the pass quickly pays for itself – especially with the 3-day and 7-day options.

Even if you’re just in Dubrovnik for a day, you can get value from the pass. Go to the City Walls first thing in the morning, then catch a city bus outside Pile Gate to Bosanka for an alternative walk to Mount Srđ. Finish the day by taking a bus over to Lapad for swimming or sunset views. All for €40!

We recommend purchasing the Dubrovnik Pass directly from the website for the best rate. We saw listings on third-party tour sites for up to twice the price!

How We Used the Dubrovnik Pass

We used the Dubrovnik Pass mainly for access to the Dubrovnik Walls plus bus access, but also to check out a museum on a slow morning in Old Town.

1. Walking the Dubrovnik Walls

This one’s a no-brainer. If you’re coming to Dubrovnik, you must walk the Dubrovnik walls, and entry is included in the Dubrovnik Pass. The walls are steeped in history, offer unforgettable views over Old Town and the Adriatic Sea.

This was our most touristy activity in Dubrovnik, but it still scratched our adventure itch. It’s not a hike in the wilderness, but it was a scenic, sun-soaked walk laced with history, and we loved it.

Here’s the kicker: walking the walls costs the same as a 1-day Dubrovnik Pass. That means even if you only do this one thing, the pass already pays for itself – and still gives you access to more attractions and unlimited bus rides for the day.

You can read more about our adventure around the walls in our full post: Walk the Dubrovnik Walls for a Scenic Stroll Through Croatia’s Past

2. Riding the Bus (A Lot)

Most of our favorite moments in Dubrovnik started with hopping on a Libertas city bus. Here’s where we went using the pass:

The bus network is reliable, easy to navigate, and saves you money quickly compared to paying for rides individually. This alone made the 7-day pass worthwhile.

You can get your bus pass by showing your Dubrovnik Pass to an attendant at the booth by the bus stop outside Pile Gate.

3. Museum Access (with No Pressure)

The Dubrovnik Pass includes entry to several museums and galleries. We weren’t visiting Croatia for indoor exhibits – we were there for sunshine, coastline, and movement.

Still, we managed to visit the Franciscan Monastery Museum on a slow morning, and found it peaceful and interesting.

That’s what we loved about the pass: there was no pressure to “get our money’s worth” by running ourselves ragged. We used it our way, and it still paid off.

That said, if you’re into museums and galleries, this pass will more than pay for itself, combined with a trip around the City Walls and a bus ride or two.

Tips for Using the Dubrovnik Pass

The Dubrovnik Pass is a great value, but a few key tips can help you get the most out of it.

⏱️ Choose your duration wisely

If you’re staying more than a few days and want to explore beyond Old Town, the 7-day pass offers the best value. We stayed in Dubrovnik for 6 nights and initially debated just getting a 3-day pass, but the extra €10 was totally worth it for the flexibility it gave us all week.

🚌 Take full advantage of the buses

Even a couple of rides a day will save you money. We used the bus constantly – to reach ports, beaches, and hikes. Download the Libertas bus timetable to make it easier.

Note that if you plan to visit Cavtat, you’ll need to purchase bus (or ferry) tickets separately. Read more about our Cavtat day trip here.

📜 Check out (at least) one or two museums

Don’t feel pressured to see them all. Choose what genuinely interests you or pop into one if you’re nearby with some downtime. We visited the Franciscan Monastery Museum after sitting by the fountain nearby – easy, spontaneous, and enjoyable.

📱Download the pass to your phone

No need to pick up a physical card. Just buy, activate, and use your pass digitally – it’s quick, easy, and always on hand.

Final Thoughts: Was the Dubrovnik Pass Worth It?

For us, the Dubrovnik Pass was absolutely worth it, even with as much time as we spent outside during our stay in Croatia.

Aside from our day trip to Kotor, we spent every day of our trip in and around Dubrovnik, making the pass incredibly useful. From walking the iconic city walls to riding the bus to beaches, hikes, and ports, the Dubrovnik Pass was integral to our weeklong stay in the city.

What made it such a good value wasn’t just the entry to major sights or the free museum access (though those were nice bonuses) – it was the flexibility. We didn’t feel pressure to “get our money’s worth” because it naturally fit into the way we like to explore: active, curious, and often on the move.

Whether you’re in Dubrovnik for just one day or staying for a week, the pass is well worth considering. Even a single activity like walking the walls plus a few bus rides can justify the cost – and the added freedom makes it an easy win.
